Telecom, Media & Technology Services

Successfully investing across the industry landscape for more than 30 years.

MDP has been a prominent investor in TMT Services since the early 1980s, having deployed approximately $6 billion of equity capital into more than 70 companies across the industry landscape, including a number of successful investments in wireless carriers, broadband service providers, media companies and software and cloud services providers. The TMT Services team seeks to leverage its long-standing experience and relationships in partnership with talented executives to pursue investment opportunities in mobile, cloud, IT, network and information services.

Decades of Experience

MDP’s 30+ year track record of investing in the industry represents a distinctive experience set that positions the team to efficiently evaluate new investment opportunities and to be a valuable partner to its management teams.

Flexible Approach

The TMT Services team has consistently deployed a flexible approach to structuring its investments and is equally comfortable investing in majority control or significant minority positions, with the primary focus on investing behind high conviction theses and talented executives.

Emphasis on Collaboration

Reflecting the MDP culture, the TMT Services team works closely with management to progress through its due diligence process, arrange an appropriate capital structure and, most importantly, support management’s execution of key strategic initiatives.

"I first partnered with Madison Dearborn in the late 1990s when I launched Cbeyond. We chose MDP because of their industry track record and the cultural match of our teams. We recently ‘put the band back together’ with a subset of our Cbeyond team and formed our second partnership with MDP to acquire Liquid Web in 2015. The MDP team asks the tough questions, deals in total transparency, is supportive as challenges emerge, and always acts as a valuable thought partner. "
